A Bikeability Provider delivering cycling training for all
Bikeability in Swindon Schools
We are very lucky in Swindon to be able to run the only government sponsored cycling training scheme with funding from government, free of charge. Cycling Now, the only Bikeability provider in Swindon has secured Schools Sports Partnership funding to deliver Bikeability Training to Year 6 and Year 7 pupils at schools in Swindon.
The government think so highly of this scheme they have provided funding for the rest of the parliament 2015. The Bikeability scheme is underpinned by the National Standards for Cycle Training and has been developed by Cycling England and the Dept for Transport. It is endorsed by both the Dept for Children, Schools and Families and the Dept of Health.
Bikeability is the brand name of National Standard Cycle training which is delivered by professional, qualified cycling instructors who are insured and Enhanced CRB Checked. Bikeability is outcomes based training that gives children the confidence, skills and knowledge to enable them to ride their cycles safely on the roads in the areas where they live and go to school.

Bikeability cycle training can clearly contribute to achievement of all five of these objectives.
70% of local councils across the country have either switched to Bikeability or share training with the Cycling Proficiency scheme. It is reported that Ofsted like to see schools where National Standard Cycle training is being delivered.
Cycling Now, which is Swindon based, has been delivering successfully Bikeability training in West Berkshire and Reading, and its instructors regularly deliver Bikeability in schools for Wiltshire and Oxfordshire Councils. We have successfully trained over 3500 young people.
